Finney, Stagnaro, Saba & Patterson trial and appellate lawyers stand ready to assist you when, in your business or personal life, you are forced to defend yourself or when your rights require vindication. FSSP attorneys regularly appear in trial and appellate courts throughout the State of Ohio, in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and in the Federal system. In addition, we have attorneys who maintain current licenses in the State of Florida, and have appeared there on behalf of firm clients with that need.
Our litigation practice group has an emphasis in the following areas:
Business Contract and Tort Disputes
Our attorneys represent clients from individuals to large companies in business and commercial disputes, covering the gamut of subject matter from sales and service contract disputes and employment relations matters to questions of unfair competition, trade secrets, non-compete agreements, and misappropriation of business opportunities.
Real Estate Brokerage, Licensing, and Contract Issues
Our group includes attorneys experienced in the real estate industry who regularly assist with licensing and contracting issues for agents and brokers, with commission disputes, and with questions of the performance or breach of sales and lease contracts, options, and the like.
Surety and Fidelity Bond Litigation
Our group includes attorneys with experience in the areas of surety and fidelity bonds. Our services to the surety and fidelity industries include claims investigation and handling, risk management consultations, and loss salvage efforts through various methods of alternative dispute resolution and traditional litigation where necessary or appropriate. Our experience includes contract performance and payment bonds under the Miller Act, various Little Miller Acts, and on private projects, as well as claims against and salvage on warranty and maintenance bonds, and fee, tax, and fidelity bonds.
Our construction lawyers assist our clients in the development of contracts for use in that industry as well as the assertion and defense of claims thereunder, including those relating to defective performance, design and material defects, contract extras, and delay damages, and the defense of workplace injury matters, including allegations of exposure to chemicals and radiation.
Wrongful Death, Personal Injury, and Medical Malpractice
Our group has attorneys who can assist you in the presentation or defense of claims for wrongful death or personal injury, whatever the cause may have been. In addition we have lawyers experienced in the prosecution and defense of medical malpractice claims.
Our attorneys have also conducted numerous pieces of constitutional litigation, especially in the areas of free speech rights and campaign finance issues.
Notable cases handled by the firm include the First Amendment rights case styled Kruse, et al. v. City of Cincinnati, et al., in which the City of Cincinnati’s campaign spending limits ordinance was ruled unconstitutional. In 1998, the United States Supreme Court refused to hear the case, preserving victory for the firm’s clients. It was in part as a result of this victory that Christopher P. Finney, Esq. was named one of eight “Ohio Lawyers of the Year” for 1998 by Ohio Lawyer Weekly, the only comprehensive source of statewide legal news for Ohio attorneys and judges.
We would be pleased to discuss with you any matter you believe might benefit from our attention and services.
